Sony's recent decision to require PlayStation Network (PSN) logins for Steam users to play Helldivers 2 has sparked significant controversy. As the gaming community reacts, questions arise about similar requirements for the upcoming PC release of Ghost of Tsushima. Sucker Punch Productions, the developer behind Ghost of Tsushima, has clarified on Twitter that the game’s single-player mode will not require a PSN login. However, accessing the multiplayer mode, Legends, and the new PlayStation PC overlay will require a PSN account. Given Legends' cross-play feature, this requirement aligns with expectations.
Amidst the controversy over PSN account linking, Steam has begun issuing refunds for Helldivers 2. Furthermore, Sony has removed it from their platform in numerous countries. Johan Pilested, head of Arrowhead Game Studios, has stated that the company is exploring possible solutions with Sony.
The highly anticipated Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is set to release on PC on May 16. As the launch approaches, gamers are keen to see how Sony's integration strategies might evolve following the recent setbacks.
