The presence of cheating in Deadlock has raised concerns, prompting Valve to consider the necessity of anti-cheat measures for their latest shooter. Developments for Deadlock are ongoing, yet instances of cheating have already been reported. Fortunately, the development team is actively seeking solutions.
Rumors surrounding Deadlock have circulated for a while, with player numbers suspiciously increasing even prior to Valve confirming the game's existence. The title now boasts a Steam page, but gaining entry into the playtest appears limited to invites from existing playtesters. This setup was expected to reduce the number of cheaters accessing the game. Nevertheless, a video surfaced last week that seemingly demonstrated players employing aimbots.
This scenario is far from ideal, as is the case with any multiplayer experience, but indications suggest Valve is addressing the situation. According to the Twitter account @IntelDeadlock, a developer named 'Yoshi' communicated on Discord that the team is indeed focused on implementing anti-cheat protocols.
While specifics regarding the anti-cheat software have yet to be disclosed, it’s evident that there is a considerable challenge ahead, given that cheats have already infiltrated the system. It is somewhat surprising to witness these issues arise so early in the game's lifecycle, but with Deadlock still under development, the team has numerous priorities to address, including anti-cheat measures. The aim is for the game to attain a more robust state before its eventual full release.
We will have to wait to discover if Deadlock has the capability to evolve into one of the premier shooters upon its official launch in the future.
